FFSC embraces a holistic approach to losing weight and gaining health. Join us and discover — What difference a summer can make!

SPECIAL NEEDS CAMPERS: Forever-Fit Summer Camp was developed to help youth that rank in the 85th percentile or greater for height and weight learn the role of nutrition and exercise in achieving optimum health. Families are an essential part of the Camp experience.

CAMP INSTRUCTIONAL ACTIVITIES OFFERED:
Dance, Fine Arts/Crafts, Basketball, Football, Cheerleading, Weightloss, Soccer, Gymnastics, Swimming, Tennis, Martial Arts, Team Sports, and more. Nutrition Education
Field Trips - Weekly
aerobics

yoga

CAMP LOCATION: Forever-Fit Summer Camp is held at our 24-acre Fitness Farm, located in the heart of Indianapolis. Please visit our website for camp photos and activities.

CAMP FACILITIES: FFSC takes place at our nonprofit’s Fitness Farm — complete with fitness trails, tennis/basketball courts, track, soccer field, fitness stations, swimming pool, gardens, farm animals, indoor kitchen, and meeting areas — all engaged during the camp session

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Comprehensive, affordable, evidence-based, FFSC is an intensive, six-week day camp program that focuses on long-term behavioral change, not a quick fix. By establishing a positive, electronic-free zone — no cell phones, computer games — FFSC campers can focus on acquiring tools needed to thrive as active, healthy adults. Developed by physicians, exercise physiologists, and others, FFSC was launched in 2011 to address obesity among Indiana youth.

For 6 consecutive years, FFSC campers have emerged from FFSC with improvements in heart rate, BMI, strength, stamina, self-esteem, and self-confidence. To gauge efficacy, FFSC relies on independent analysis of assays. All campers undergo pre- and post-anthropometric evaluation — height, weight, blood pressure, heart rate, strength, flexibility — and complete pre- and post-camp questionnaires (Food Frequency, PedsQL, Camper-Parent Surveys). At the end of camp, data is analyzed by independent researcher.

Serving at-risk boys and girls ages 8-12 from underserved populations, FFSC incorporates structured activities that instruct, encourage and engage youth to adopt a healthier lifestyle—through daily activity-based and nutrition-education programs, as well as field trips and group discussions.

On-staff nutritionist leads nutrition education, meal demonstrations. On-staff counselors develop and oversee all activities.

All meals prepared on grounds. Weekly fee all-inclusive.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: FFSC is designed to teach and nurture life skills —healthy living, social, leadership, critical thinking, teamwork skils— in a “learn-by-doing” camp environment.

Teamwork is a important life skill nurtured at the FFSC through group activities, exercise, nutrition education gardening, and care of camp animals. The camp represents a unit: all learn together.

Critical thinking, Problem Solving: Camp programs nurture decision-making and problem-solving skills through activities (journaling/food/exercise selection, food choices), in-depth group discussions, art projects (crafts, fine art).

Community Service/Involvement: Gardening activities at camp also help nurture community involvement as kids share “their” produce with family members and their communities.

CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Some financial assistance available for eligible candidates

FAMILY CAMP SESSION(S): Parents must attend Thursday's Parents Night for meal and group discussion throughout six-week camp.

YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: Monthly follow up meetings with Forever-Fit Summer Camp youth. Facebook page so campers can stay in touch and on track with fitness regimen.

CAMP LOCATION: This six week camp is, located near downtown Indy, takes place at the Children’s Better Health Institute Fitness Farm. The 24-acre Fitness Farm is the ideal venue for an action-packed day camp.

CAMP FACILITIES: With a beautiful indoor and outside space, the Fitness Farm is a great mix of the city and country coming together. With a large kitchen, dinning hall and classroom space inside and a walking trail that takes you around the property, to see our swimming pool, track, basket ball and tennis court, chicken coop, and urban garden.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: The Forever Fit Summer Camp encourages kids to explore what they like to do. For some kids, physical activity may be viewed as a daunting experience and not fun at all. However, we want children to view physical activity as the freedom to play and participate in activities that they can enjoy throughout life. To accomplish our goal, we introduce children to new “active” opportunities each day. Some are fitness based—yoga, walking, dancing, aerobics, and swimming—while others focus on game play, incorporating new twists on simple activities such as scavenger hunts, fun competitions, and much more.

The Forever-Fit Summer Camp helps children learn to enjoy and favor foods that are good for them by presenting great-tasting choices in a fun, safe environment. Children (and adults) need to understand the importance of healthy foods in the daily diet, but most lack exposure to sound nutritional principles and education about how to adapt and adopt a healthy lifestyle.

CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Some scholarships available. Contact our office for application process.

FAMILY CAMP SESSION(S): The Forever-Fit Summer Camp emphasizes the vital role parents and caregivers play in their children’s habits and attitudes about health, nutrition, and physical activity. Parents and caregivers are required to attend and encouraged to actively participate in the camp’s once-a-week, evening meetings called Parent’s Night.

Parents’ Night combines nutrition-related activities and lessons from the camp dietitian with healthy cooking demonstrations by professional chefs and dietitians. During combined parent/child group night, kids and parents sit together to enjoy a healthy meal while learning about portion sizes and how to make delicious meals that incorporate a variety of healthy foods.

Family Zumba let’s campers, their family, and friends, workout together at the Fitness Farm. Lead by certified Zumba instructor, Demetrees Hutchins, not only do you get a fun and energizing workout, but she personally understands the struggles of creating a healthier lifestyle.
