BRIEF CAMP DESCRIPTION: Wilderness Augusta trips are intentionally designed and facilitated outdoor adventures for children to make powerful, life-serving choices for themselves and others through challenging expeditions and in a skills-based learning environment.
Our curriculum and itineraries focus on character development and outdoor leadership through environmental stewardship and awareness and outdoor living skills. We focus on a unique, intentional design of “success counseling” that allows counselors to address diverse learning styles, feelings and needs.

CAMP LOCATION:
Situated one hour northeast of Sacramento in Nevada County’s lush pine forest, Camp Augusta gives you the feeling of comfort. Our 65-foot waterfall, Lake Vera, rustic beauty and blue sky will create an atmosphere of peace and relaxation. Dedicated staff provide everything necessary for your best experience. Camp Augusta covers 80 acres in the Sierra Nevada foothills, just outside the town of Nevada City. Each year, thousands of children, youth and family members enjoy Camp Augusta's rustic setting in the wooded lands of Lake Vera's western shores. Camp Augusta's four core programs are uniquely designed for summer youth campers, wilderness trips, elementary school children, and family groups.
CAMP FACILITIES: Our lodge, rebuilt in 2000, is a 1,400 square foot log structure. It features a great fireplace, a 1,000 square foot open-air deck, and a feeling of rustic nostalgia that will make your wedding, conference, seminar, retreat, or picnic unforgettable.
Facilities also include: amphitheater, 18 open-air cabins (holds 120 people), yurt, 2 modern cabins, fully-equipped kitchen, outdoor dining area, 3 campfire rings, large activity field, lake, Rock Creek, waterfalls, and 80 acres.

We have a variety of incredible trips planned that offer a bit of a different twist on the typical Camp Augusta experience (if, indeed, anything at Camp Augusta can be considered ‘typical’!).

Resident Camp (1 or 2 weeks):
Our program is designed for boys and girls between the ages of 8-16. Campers are placed in cabin groups according to age, gender, and parental requests. With a staff-to-camper ratio of 1:2, kids have full assistance in all aspects of camp life. Camp Augusta is a place where children learn to live together in a supportive atmosphere that promotes personal and social growth, increases self-confidence, and lasting memories and friendships. Our extensive activities offer something for just about any camper.
Mini Camp (3 days, 2 nights):
Intended as a first camp experience for the young child (ages 6 – 9), providing close supervision and an introduction to camping with lots of individual attention. A ratio of one staff member per two campers is maintained, and often better than that.
Communication, Independence, and Responsibility: Compassionate Leadership Empowerment (CIRCLE)
Mission: To inspire within teens aged 16-17 an appreciation for and understanding of the beautiful complexities of working intimately with children; to empower teens with focused leadership and communication skills that allow them to engage their world with independence, responsibility, and compassion.

FAMILY CAMP SESSION(S): Camp Augusta is about FUN with all of the activities you’d expect, but also so much more. In a small, tight, true community set in natural splendor, campers develop self-confidence, independence, social skills (emotional intelligence), creativity, activity skills, environmental awareness and appreciation, friendships, and healthy living skills. Campers also learn what most modern children have forgotten -- how to simply play and be a kid without television, video games, cell/smart phones, the internet, canned games, or social pressure.
